Major League Soccer (MLS) has officially announced its new innovation lab startup accelerator program following behind other major leagues such as the NBA with NBA Launchpad and NFL 1st and Future.
The league said it received applications from hundreds of companies, but narrowed it down to six initial companies for the first cohort.
The inaugural cohort focuses on innovations in three key areas:
- Player development
- Fan engagement
- Media and consumption
The selected startups include:
- A-Champs: a cognitive and technical training system
- Camb.AI: an AI dubbing platform that instantaneously translates content into any language, while maintaining the native speaker’s voice and tone
- Fabric: a gamified mixed reality fan experience at live events that drives fan engagement through rewards
- Fitogether: a FIFA-preferred provider for wearable player tracking, the technology utilizes GPS to track on-field performance through a video hybrid system
- Reeplayer: a premium AI camera empowering teams and organizations to automatically record, live stream, share, and monetize soccer footage
- Stadium.US: an AI-powered and 5G-enabled camera with an OTT platform that delivers live broadcasts, highlights, and advanced game and player analytics

All six companies will have the opportunity to test their product in various live settings including events such as Generation Adidas Cup, MLS Next Cup, and MLS Next All-Star Game.
They will also gain access to MLS’ wider network of contacts and advisors.
Following the conclusion of all testing opportunities, companies will be selected to present to MLS executives and owners with the promising companies having the potential to earn long-term strategic partnerships and investment opportunities from the League according to the MLS.
